This video is absolutely crazy. In recent years (past 20 or so) asbestos lawsuits have terrorized the U.S. litigation system and will likely continue to do so for many more. Now a days, people run around making mesothelioma claims and suing right and left.

But back in the 1950′s they knew what was up. Asbestos has some amazing properties, especially heat dispersion, which makes it an ideal fire retardant. What better to wear into a roaring flame? Just watch the video, an engineer donning the asbestos suit walks into an oven, flames roar around him, but he is fine. The same engineer takes a scarecrow into the oven with him, and spontaneous combustion.

Frankly, besides the mesothelioma aspect, on a chemical level asbestos is amazing.
