Due to the popularity of my last blog post on pencil lead carving, I’ve hunted down 4 more fine examples of Dalton Ghetti’s work and one more example from the amazing miniature artist Willard Wigan. Each of Dalton Ghetti’s pencil lead carvings take up to a year to carve. Mainly, because carving pencil lead is a finicky business and he reports massive casualties in his attempts to carve beauty into pencil lead.

There is something so awe inspiring about these pencil lead carvings. Perhaps the new take on such an old media, or the fact that it feels like an art that anyone could do, that you could do, however you probably won’t. The second artist featured this week is Willard Wigan, who will likely be featured in an upcoming post, the man with the hands. He creatures miniature pieces of art work from Elvis standing on pin heads to cats hanging from eyelashes, his foray into the world of pencil lead carving is somewhat new.
